About Texas Attorney - Keith S. Weiser
I graduated from Houston Baptist University in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in English and Psychology, and graduated from South Texas School of Law in Houston, in 1984. I began my criminal law career as an Assistant District Attorney in Victoria County, Texas, in 1985. I received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston - Victoria, in 1998.
For nearly 12 years I prosecuted all types of Felonies and Misdemeanors, and on January 1, 1999, I opened my law office to represent citizens accused of Federal and State crimes. I have tried more than 200 jury trials, and will use my knowledge and experience to defend you.
Never hire a lawyer based solely on a website or telephone call! You must sit down and meet the lawyer and be comfortable with the person who will represent you.
What can Keith S. Weiser do for you?
What I do is obtain a detailed history of you and the offense; review the government's reports, witness statements, and tangible evidence; locate and interview your witnesses; examine the government's case for defects; research and file appropriate legal documents; discuss all options available to you, and if necessary, present your defense at trial.
How much does all this cost?
A competent criminal defense lawyer is likely to quote you a fee that will "knock your socks off!" In fairness, this is not because of greed, but because defending a criminal case involves time to thoroughly investigate the facts (and not just rely on the government's version of what happened!); time to interview witnesses; time to prepare a proper defense; time to negotiate with the government; and time to present your defense in court.
I base my fee on the following factors: my years of experience handling criminal cases; my good reputation in the legal community; the nature of the offense; the time and labor likely required to defend you; the difficulty of the issues; the time limitations imposed by you or the circumstances or the court; the skill required to perform the legal services; the fee customarily charged locally for similar legal services; and the opportunity cost of accepting your case over someone else‘s.
I charge a "Flat Fee" covering all reasonably foreseen contingencies in a case, including a trial on a plea of "Not Guilty". I accept payments with 50% down and the balance in four equal monthly payments.
There is no "schedule" of fees, because every client's case is different.
